The Beginning...
In 1930, Earnest E. Jones and his wife Alice, bought a small feed mill in Linwood, Ontario naming it Jones Feed Mill. In 1949, Earnest’s son, George and his wife Jean took over the mill, and grew the business to 25 employees to service more customers. In July 1971, the mill tragically burned to the ground; however with the help of neighbours and other area feed mills, a new mill was constructed and re-opened in March 1972.
George and Jean’s son, Jeff, a graduate of the University of Guelph followed in his parents and grandparents footsteps, taking over the mill in 1984. Due to a growing customer base and with a demand for non-medicated livestock feed, Jeff and his wife Julie, bought two more mills in 1998. The new “Heidelberg” facility was turned into an organic and medication-free mill. A retail feed and supply store was also built on the front of the Heidelberg mill and named Miller’s Stone. The second mill, in Wroxeter, was dedicated to manufacturing identity-preserved, non-GMO feeds as well as processing grains for bird seed.
